Though uncommon, femoral nerve palsies are potentially devastating injuries which can occur as a result of penetrating trauma or malignancies, however the most common cause is inadvertent iatrogenic injury following intra abdominal surgery such as gynaecological/vascular surgery or total hip replacement.
